Suggestions: AI railroad settlements, railroad raiders, new start scenario
it'd be cool to have industrial factions—like the modded settlers—have their settlements that are close enough to each other, spawn with railroads and trains already

i think for balance there should also be a bandit raid type of event with varying difficulty depending on colony wealth, most difficult will have them blow up a portion of a railroad

then a new starting scenario "Last train home" for royalty dlc, where you start with 5 deserter colonists hostile to the empire, a broken railroad, and a train that has one wood-fueled steam locomotive, a hopper, then a boxcar

Do you mean like, bandits raiding train caravans? If possible that'd be incredibly cool, yeah.

yeah, like something similar to outpost raids from outposts expanded, but with two variants

train hijackers, only has a chance to happen if the train is stopped

railroad bandits, has a chance to happen while the train is underway, they're the ones i mentioned in my post being the most difficult, like when their raid starts it spawns a tile with a destroyed railroad

would be cool to also have the mod compatible with giddy-up 2 forked, so that the bandits will have a chance to spawn mounted on horseback if you also have that mod

It would be cool there was ancient tracks, that you can repair, similar to that of the ancient highways. I think it would be fun if you could fix them up too plus it would add a good world-element to it. Just a idea though idk how much work that would take.

What about considering making an addon using the map vehicles framework allowing us to make train cars we could build on

I'll second that - Vehicle Map Framework has some crazy potential for cool stuff you can do with it, including letting you interact with pawns and structures on its map-vehicles while they're moving as a caravan on the world map - which in theory would allow you to have a full-on mobile base on a train, and have that mobile base also get raided by drop-pod raiders trying to hijack the train while it's actively traveling.

I agree having raiders attack or hijack the train would spice it up a bit.

This would be an amazing way to transport people and resources to and from Vanilla Outposts
