the issue im having is that it still says the map is missing even after i did that. im guessing that the server is running an earlier version of the map based on the fact that the end of the Brooklyn file is "b2c" on the server but "b2e" in my game files

In that case yes, the server you're trying to join is the one that did not update.

Where do you put the ip

You open the console and type "connect [the ip of the server]" without the "" and the [].
