You know how chara can come back from the dead and sorta has more lives? Make a countermeasure or something where if a strong enough character knocks down sonic as he has enough meter, it'll be confusmed to go super sonic in order to do a comeback, it'll probably be a passive drain of the meter, slowing ticking down as the energy is used.
