I get a sound buffer overflow whenever I clean up the map after about 10 minutes of playtime (just exploring) which kicks me out to the main menu.

Hi, are you running with chromium 64 bit? I noticed that some people crash eventually on the map if they are just using base gmod.

You can change your gmod to Chromium very easily by right clicking the game in library, properties, betas, and chromium 64.

The map is fairly optimized but of course it is a pretty modern map, having all the bells and whistles and literally another gigantic map crammed into it. Unfortunately my entire server relies on using 64Bit anyway.
