character editor worked for me, but it did pop a notification that the apparel is not dyeable. if you dont mind you could use set color in the dev option, that does work.

I use the mod "Craft with Color" to have my crafter paint it automatically once it's done. It just finishes as my chosen colour. If you want specifically your ideoligion colour, or you want to paint the exosuits as your pilot's favourite colour, then there's a handy dropdown in the crafting bill window that lets you actually choose them, labelled and all.

You can choose to make it require dye or not, and the mod also lets you choose styles for whatever your crafting other items (Techist, Rustic, etc).
