Crash when loading into the 2nd Chapter
I cannot play the 2nd chapter at all because it crashes the game to the desktop no matter what. I am on Linux so maybe that has something to do with it but all other custom campaigns work fine that I have tried. Also, I do not have any mods installed so it isn't a conflict issue. Any ideas what it could be?

Only way I got it to work is to use Proton and then add PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 to launch options. Unfortunately, this only allows you to play it in single player mode. You can't join servers at all because you will get a VAC message.

I turned off my captioning in the audio settings and now it does not crash.

For Linux Native or Linux Proton? I'm gonna test this though.

2 Months late but ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, turning off subtitles works.
Putting this in my Linux L4D2 guide.

i have same issue with the city lvl chpt 5 tried everything cant get it to work. and when i used to play back after release never had issue... snyone got advice or know whats going on
?

it was the subtitles lol, make sure to disable it from settings.
