I'd also add that terrain buffs would be nice, even if done via upgrades. Perhaps slower with sturdier legs that can better handle terrain like mountains, forests, & jungles. Would give these things a separate use from tanks for breaking through really miserable areas.
Also incorporation into doctrine, unless they're counted as tanks right now.
They are currently counted as tanks in mobile warfare as far as I know.
walker classes could start with the early walker, which then expand into the scout, medium, heavy, then siege with the walker expansion projects, then of course... we get the various projects for upgrades, then of course... the GROSSENWALKENTRACKTOR, the walker equivilent of the Landcruiser. A 6-8 legged walker that is slow... but impressively dangerous.
Walkers could also become a form of mechanized/motorized if the walker uses troop carriage modules. (I.e. AT-Ats. (Which were more armed, armoured troop transports. Which is essentially what mechanized was in WW2.)
