Do I Need DBL For This mod To work?

I have the same issue

the mod options reset the visuals back to on every time i launch the game

This mod corrupts my game and makes me unable to play until i remove my savefile (or did so until they made it so the game can be played without mods)
I am though still unable to play with mods until i have purged my savefile.
Edit:
Solved it, the issue isnt this mod, The issue is that if you have a run saved from another play session and start the game again with any mod on it, there is a chance you cannot go with mods again until that run is ended somehow. Starting and ending that run solves the issue.
