Edit: Do you use the music remover as well? Can you make a new game (online & offline) with the updated mod?
It's likely that using the newer version is just fine, and that what happened is that the online server is locked to the file name of the old version.
I'm assuming you changed the file name for the sake of this update, and so now the server is treating the file as a new incompatible mod, while at the same time treating the "original" mod as missing(Even though it's not). Hence the error message in the screenshot

To reiterate, the "continue as normal" option seems to be a singleplayer only thing. Multiplayer doesn't seem to have that option
