According to this mod: https://psteamcommunity.yuanyoumao.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3236944905 The nuln ironsides have unique handgun assets but they weren't given them in-game. Have you considered incorporating this change? It fits the bill of your mod well I think.
