Your work is blessed. I've waited for a mod adding Horizon robots to the game for 2 years and it's finally happening! Now, like many others, I'd love to see this mod become something super amazing in the future with your work, so here are some things that I think need to be addressed that could help make the mod feel better/ and what people should expect when installing the mod in its current state. I am aware that importing models into another game is easier said than done, and I find the work you put into the mod this far marvelous (especially because it adds new mechanics and crafting items), so take this as a small motivator in case you wish to continue developing this mod for Evolved.
Notes:
- The walking speed of the robots feels a bit unfitting to their animations (most noticeable on the observers), especially when riding them. The walking speed of the observers feels too fast, and the running too slow (should be at least as fast as a raptor when running imo), and the saber feels very slow, although that one doesn't bother all that much.
- Wild creature aiming is kinda weird/ glitchy. They either run past you or make it seem as though they're not attacking you. I am also not sure how I feel about the observer kick damaging creatures behind its body when it is jumping.
- As many others addressed, the thunderfang feels really small, but it could also just be ARKs aesthetic for making everything larger overall. I'd suggest making it at least bigger than the Charcha so it fits more. It would also strike more fear among players, but warn players "early" when one of those robots is blocking their path as it has ranged attacks, which the largest dinos of Ark do not.
- When it comes to attacks, I feel like you should give observers a faster primary attack or make the secondary one a bit stronger. The kick does more damage than it looks like. lol
On the other hand, the saber and thunder attacks feel really nice and smooth, the running speed of the saber cooould be a bit faster, but I'm not complaining. Just the turning radius of both feels insanely slow/ large for such agile robots.
- While I find the idea of the thunderjaw spawning drones in, it's also a bit cheesy considering you could easily do this in boss fights. (Haven't tested yet) I feel like it doesn't need this ability, guns and lasers are already cool enough in my opinion. ^^
- Definitely add jumping animations, when and if you can!
Possible bugs:
- A lot of robots spawn into the ground (on extinction, not sure about other maps) and outside the map
- Unsure if that is intentional, but the creature and resource names all have these text (box) symbols in them. The crafting bench does too.
- One of the watcher attack effects is completely pink. No texture perhaps?
- The main laser (?) or the very left one of the thunderfang tends to aim into a totally wrong direction/ lags behind and the drones it spawns have an annoyingly blinding light they aim at you forever until it starts glitching out, turning the screen into a strobo party light. (If it's part of the attack drone's general ability then nvm) It doesn't bother me too much but it might be a little unsettling for some folk.
- Robots can't / don't swim (?)
I can't wait for more model imports, especially the ones from Forbidden West would fit ARK's theme quite well. Please keep up the amazing work! I am confident that your mod would give the game more positive justice sooner or later. :)
