defeated the dreaded one after i got a task to do it but i got no reward or anything, its still in the tasks list

is it a glitch or should i play again and defeat him for the task to complete

Oh that glitch did you just let the lord army defeated him first when you got the task? if that so the quest will be glitch forever and the Shrine quest will forever never exist now you need to play it all again.
