Bloodsouls
Kyle's Review of "Bloodsouls" - 3/5
A janky Bloodborne tribute. 3/5 stars.

Bloodsouls is a mostly faithful recreation of levels from Bloodborne that left me wanting more. The level design is generally solid and spooky, with friendly skeletons giving you hints when needed. Environments have an appropriately grandiose sense of scale, but they're also less complex than the originals so they fit L4D2's pacing better. This mod is a fun return to Yharnam for fans like me, although I think some sections might be tough to navigate for folks who haven't played Bloodborne.

Sadly, polish is a major issue. Levels are aesthetically bland, with lots of blocky buildings, ugly fog colors, and lacking soundscapes. Bots frequently commit ladder-assisted suicide and rarely pick up medkits. Some of Bloodborne's original music is here, but pitch and speed were inexplicably reduced. The gauntlet finale is also a pain due to a crushing lack of supplies.

Overall, I had a mostly good time, but I would only recommend this to fellow Bloodborne fans.
