Salvage each container you loot along the way if you can, it will make identifying any missed a lot easier. Also, if you salvage all the cargo containers do the devices lists them at 0 and then check the CPU statistics, if there are any cargo containers remaining in that list it means there are alien containers you did miss (quantum containers should still be listed in the F4 menu if they exist though).
Edit: I took out all of the containers listed in the p menu and one cargo container is still listed in the statistics. So far I have spent another hour looking for this one container.
Edit. Ok so I finally give up. The only reason I invaded the Zirax Naval Shipyard was for the quantum chest.
Edit: I didn't realize until now that statistics counts closets as cargo containers. The quantum containers are also not listed in statistics.
If you're just looking for a small amount of processors, the abandoned POIs are probably your easier targets; just bring lots of meds for poison, infected wounds, tea for fevers and make sure your armour is repaired over 80%.

Perhaps you could try going into Creative mode in a space-based canvas area and bringing up the F2 menu and scanning for R2OPV for ships and R2BA for planet side PoI and looking at their device trees to see for yourself which targets you want to try. The screenshot above is from a Creative spawned Sector Command where you are likely to find 5 and maybe even more Data Cores. And be sure to show your gratitude to our RE2 authors. We are guests in their house after all
I have creative mode set up for RE2. In the F2 menu do you use the search function to scan? I have never heard the term 'canvas area'.
Yes, search on the strings above in the blueprint selections. Be sure to have the filters set to Base for the R2BA search and Capital Vessels for the R2OPV search. You get everything, including Polaris, Legacy, etc. But you should start to see Zirax ships and you can then instantiate them in the canvas area. When you start RE2 in Creative mode, it will give you a canvas option which allows you to bring in ships and bases in 0g. I actually prefer starting on Akua's Creative start, then bringing in a small throw-away CV and warping to the location of the UCH research vessel and using that area like a canvas. But you'll find a way that works for you. Best of luck!
I did not, but presuming it's mechanics are the same as the alien containers, it should. Unfortunately I was hoping to determine whether or not you could see if there was one in a POI that was not located yet. I should have checked the CPU usage to see if it was listed as a container there, but I didn't think of that at the time :(
I tried that but it only highlights the cargo box group, not the individual quantum computer box.
