New Mechanics
Undeploy Hex:
Beginning with the 3rd map of preludes u will notice a hex at the border of the map with a white dotted line labeled "Move to Reserve".
If u move a unit on that hex it will be moved into ur reserve and u can use the freed core points to place another unit next to a supply hex(town hex with a circle).
The unit u moved to reserve can be brought back to the map in the next turn provided u have the needed core slots avail to field it.
U can switch heros, repair to max in one go, upgrade to other unit/modell with units in reserve.
Especially replacing fighters with bombers after achieving air superiority is a fast and easy way to use these new hexes.

new Random heros:(currently in Preludes and 1939, will be added to the rest of the campaigns one by one)
at the start of a scenario, where u don´t get to buy a special hero with commendation points, u get to choose a random officer out of 3 categories. A weak one for 1.000 prestige, a mediocre one for 3.000 prestige or an outstanding one for 5.000 prestige. This replaces the random hero generated at the start of a scenario.

Each trait has a limit per campaign to reduce unwanted hero clustering due to unlucky randomness. Currently this limit is set to roughly 1 per year of the war.
This should result in a wider spread hero variety.

Some heros have further restrictions:
ZeroSlots,Camouflage,IncMaxOverstrength,NoRetaliation and Vigilant are currently restricted to 1 per 2 years. This can be bypassed with the General trait "Killer-Team".

FieldRepairs,SkilledRecon, FastDeployment, FastRebase, ExpertRecon, CounterBattery and FirstAid are restricted to the apropriate unit.types to reduce player puzzlement.

Enemy Air reinforcements:
Starting in 1940 Hannut hangars will be present on several maps. As long as those hangars are around the enemy will get air-reinforcements if they loose planes.

1) Is it possible to make sure that the cost of firing a hero corresponds to the cost of purchasing him?
2) How does the hero limit mechanic actually work - does the game remember the given heroes? or is it based on those that are already in the core troops? That is, for example, if I fire a hero I obviously don’t need, I can guarantee that he won’t appear again this year?

1. hero value is always 1.000 prestige when firing. this cannot be made individual. i don´t expect people to fire 3 or 5k heros, those are all usefull.
2. at the start of the map the game counts ur heros. if u fire one u might get the same one again.

The “one per year” mechanic either doesn’t work or works crookedly - I was given two copies in 1940 StrikesFirst and Legendary.

Seems "1 per year" is missleading :) i´ll explain in more detail.
During SCW u can get 1 kind of hero max. no doubles.
During 1939 u can get 2 heros of each except some special restricted ones which are still 1 only.
During 1940 u can get up to 3 heros of each type and special restricted are upgraided to 2 each max.

So getting 2 first strikes/legendaries if u only had 1 in 1940 is possible.

Did I understand correctly - if I had 0 heroes of a certain type before the 40th year, then during the 40th year I can get up to 3 heroes of this type(without special restricted)? And if there was 1, then I can get 2, if there was 2, then I can only get 1?

yes that is correct.
