the ore will only spawn in on newly generated planets and asteroids. so you can find it if the asteroids are infinite (I hope, I'm currently having difficulty finding naquedah, but could be unlucky)

(On Earth and on Moon, spent hours seraching for the Stargate ores. No luck yet)

I have finally found Naquadah on a distant asteroid, however, when I use my handdrill to mine it, stone instead of naquada comes out :(
Any ideas why?

I imported my base to a new world after reading this and I still can't find any on the planet. I've probably traveled 30k meters in every direction looking. This ore should be on the starter planet in the star system scenario right?

Well I spent 3 hours looking on the planet and in space just now and found none.

Did you use the ore detector from a large ship? Maybe the stargate ore is too deep for a small ore detector to locate. However, the ore I found on an asteroid was on the surface. Still turns into stone after mining :(
