I tried the delete and reload fix that is recommended, twice, so I am sure I just messed up on my placement or something.
I have 2 supergates placed in my map one is about 70,000 m out from the earth-like planet and the other is 2.9 million m away from that. Each supergate has a small platform with thrusters for inertial dampening, a pilot console, reactors (too many), an antenna and a DHD

I also have a stargate placed on my ship and on an orbital station. my ship has 2 DHD's one right near the stargate and another on the bridge (for supergate activation). there is another DHD on the orbital station in front of the stargate.

When I press the DHD, either for the stargate or the supergates I get a message on screen that says "no destination gate found"

The ship, orbital station and supergate platforms are set to owned by me, share with all (in case my friends join).
Is there something I have missed or did I set things up incorrectly?

Probably does not matter much but i have since removed the stargate and 1 of the DHD from my ship.

[Solved] I found what i did wrong. I had to extract the mod to a folder in order to use the tutorial world but after I got the tutorial world functioning I was able to look closely at the settings and realized i was naming the DHD's incorrectly to match to gates.
