scout is meant to be kept young
isnt so appealing when the scout is meant to young, the scout with a beard and marine helmet doesnt look too good, it would look great on the soldier but i have never pictured the scout to have a beard and flak jacket looking like hes in his 30's. its just my opinion though.

Plus, a bunch of classes have hats that make them look older.

From my point of view, I think this is fine, only the beard strikes me. During the Vietnam War, remember, they did have people enlist at this age, either that or they were drafted.

You clearly don't get the point. Scout with No Name is saying many of the TF2 classes have items that make them look older than they are, so why shouldn't the Scout have some?

The beard is a different cosmetic item, the helmet is by itself; the beard is a different workshop submission.

Thing is that this is probably a nod to the Vietnam War, which happened around the time of TF2, and involved a massive draft of incredibly young men, some almost immediately after they became of serviceable age. Evidence supporting this is the writing on the helmet, which is a reference to both Bruce Springsteen's "Born to Run" and the movie Full Metal Jacket.

Its not even that important since when does tf2 use logic?

I think that the only reason the mature look wouldn't go well with scout is because he usually acts like he's 12. He sometimes looks like it, too, even though he's old enough to drink. I guess that's part of why we like him.
