The "Weapon Mastery: G" boss relic only adds focus but no new orb slots as claimed when you are at 7 orb slots. It might be that there's a 7 orb-slot cap (rather than the usual 10-slot cap), in which case the value of cards, relics etc. granting new orb slots is severely reduced - especially since you are starting with 5.
