i say sequel

SE Cause there are ANIMATRONICS that are simaler to the first one.

Prequel because:
-Check at end of Night 5 states 1987, and they also mention the incident of the 5 kids.
-End of Night 6 states they will be keeping the old animatronics in hopes of making a new one, even with lower budget.
-Phone Guy Mentions a restaurant called Fredbears Family Diner, which is where the originals probably came from.
-The Bite of '87 has not been mentioned.
It is a prequel in my opinion.

Prequel, and as @Samurai Soldier said, Phone Guy mentions a man using a "yellow suit" (possibly Golden Freddy), to do something with KIDS. Coincidence? I think NOT! Also, your paycheck on Night 5's ending, says 1987, the year that the Bite of '87 took place. Foxy, who is in that facility, bit off someone's head, because in FNaF 1, Phone Guy says "Then the Bite of '87 happened. Yeah. It's amazing that the human body can live without the FRONTAL LOBE.''
And as some of us know, the frontal [breathing] lobe is in the head. So, it is a prequel.
