Mind adding this requirement in the description like this:

"Half-Life 2 is required to be mounted before installing. Do it or you'll end up having missing textures."

You don't actually need half-life 2. GMod has Half-life 2 textures and models prepackaged with Gmod itself (its how you can mess with all the half-life 2 npc's and props)

Not necessarily, only a few of the games models and textures are packed in, Gmod was intended to be fast to load and not have a big load when trying to download it so it doesn't have every texture and model inside (From what i have heard)

Well actually. you can mount HL2 to gmod. it adds in all map textures. I'm fairly certain base gmod doesn't have map props/textures.

It wouldn't make sense for gmod to have most but not all hl2 assets, what you're thinking of is probably the hl2 episodes wich count as seperate games.

I think gmod does contain map textures from HL2 but not the code for said maps? If you decide to download all the maps that aren't in base gmod it's around 1-2GB unless you mount them by HL2 if you bought it.

What do you mean by "the code for said maps"? Do you mean the maps(levels) and the campaign scripts? Yeah those aren't in base gmod, of course. Valve still wants people to buy hl2 proper.

As for models, animations (even campaign specific ones), npcs and textures, I can say with a 99% confidence that all of those are included in gmod.
