Free Melee Weapon - Challenge/EE
Found on top of wooden crate in spawn directly to the right of the perk location.
My best guess has to how I obtained a free butterfly knife is by calling in and having the Zeppelin arrive by or before round 10? This is the quickest I've gotten to having it come in so far. Haven't noticed this so far in other games played. It was round 11 for me when I was going thru spawn and noticed it on the crate.

Do you remember anything else that might have spawned it in? I believe in my playthrough with the butterfly knife it spawned before we even had the zeppelin in because we didn't know what we were doing. Been trying to recreate it by getting certain number of knife kills or only knifing for the first few rounds, etc. but can not seem to recreate it.

The only other thing I can think of that I did in that game was I kept on tossing nades into center fountain ( think it was all 4 nades in one round) and I noticed the fountain was empty and I wasn't getting or losing any points from it.

I've also had the wrench spawn there as well. Could be more melee weapons but so far those are the only two I've had spawn in.

Someone else mentioned it can be a fire axe too so that would make sense that it could be a number of melee weapons

Yep, when playing with a couple friends we had a Wrench as well.. No idea what activated it.

This is correct, I did a speedrun attempt after a few straight games of playing slowly and not getting it. Butterfly knife reward for completing round 5 quickly (so it is rewarded when the round flips to 6 just to be clear) and then got the slash n burn axe at round 10.

Some others have talked about a wrench so I would assume that is for completely 15 quickly, but I can't confirm that myself.

It's actually not a round based freebie, found out by mistake a few days ago and then repeated it with friends. You need to use the explosive death machine and kill 1 zombie in front of the box.

People have probably caught on now but you only get 4 melee weapons

- the butterfly knife
- the axe
- the wrench
- and a hand held buzzsaw thing

Completing rounds fast enough will spawn a melee weapon near the perk machine in spawn

- Round 5 done fast enough will give a butterfly knife
- Round 10 done fast enough will give a fire axe
