If I had Custom Edition installed rn I would try. Uh, there is a zip file version of this on InfernoPlus's patreon page, could try installing it. Although it says it's for the Gamepass version.

Already tried but Step 4 is impossible as Custom Edition doesn't create any files in AppData that has a dependency to make the game load Cursed Again unlike MCC which does.

can't you just replace the map files? or is there more to the mod?

Again already tried but the game crashes because there is a second set of campaign files which don't really go anywhere and therefore aren't loaded to make the mod work.
