you can get it working by downgrading your game if youre desperate lol
in steam console:
download_depot 976730 976731 5133523842924247498
download_depot 976730 976733 8917719501005780568
this will download the base depot and halo 1 depot for the april 5th version of mcc. i have not checked if other versions work or if downloading only one of those depots works.
once they are both downloaded, switch out the relevant game files in your halo mcc installation with the older versions. you may also need to adjust the min/max game versions in the way the previous discussion explains.

Where does it download too? where do you install them?

folder downloads to the location it says after you open Steam console and input the line.
Probably:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\content\app_976730\depot_976731

The location you need to drop it onto is:
SteamLibrary/steamapps/common/Halo The Master Chief Collection
(copy and paste the files inside the 976731 and 976733 folders, select replace option)

That said, I did this just now and it didn't fix the mod disappearing.
