Not sure if this is just a part of how the mod works but basically every slugcat, both modded and from downpour, just appear as the survivor. While you can change their appearance using modded parts, setting it to the default just sets their appearance to the survivor.

The only reason why I believe this is an actual bug is that character specific cosmetics, such as many of the downpour slugcats, don't appear on the player.
