Though, of course, I still think you should be able to single out a drone if you want to. Maybe add a way to "highlight" several drones at once by clicking and dragging, like you can with desktop icons or files on a computer. That way, you can still single out a drone by just clicking on them, but you'll also be able to command a lot of your drones at once.
Adding on to the highlighting drones idea, perhaps make the "auto, attack, and stay" buttons go above the slugcats head rather than under the drones, which would the HUD easier to read, and paired with the highlighting mechanic, make it much easier to command all of your drones at once.
i say this because before i realised you weren't MEANT to befriend them, i made an active effort to do so (even taking out my own drones preemptively sometimes so they wouldn't kill on sight) and raised my rep with them to 100 (checked with dev tools). though they still waved me through when i paid tolls, they also still attempted to kill me whenever they saw me, which is a bit dissonant.
the big issue, though - and granted this is also largely because of a different mod i have - is that i have a mod that disables friendly fire, so. they could never actually hit me, and vice versa..... though my drones COULD and DID still kill them :'D
And, uh, also - maybe drones could be able to resque grabbed friendlies with a quickly charged shock blast? Like, a zap which stuns a creature for a couple seconds
p.s. Bless you for them in anti-gravity. 10/10 feature.
Another suggestion is a remix setting toggle that disables slugpups from grabbing the drones.
