A mod would probably be nice, maybe even creating additional positive feedback. It'd do good for the community, too, what with people browsing sites like mods.tf or tf2.gamebanana.com possibly stumbling across this, maybe being like, 'Hey, that looks cool! I think I'll use this mod! It has a spot in the Workshop? It should be in game!', or something of that nature. Still though, putting a mod of this online could do a lot of good, with a larger portion of the community discovering this creation.
