How to get the fix to work- more detailed guide
You may have already seen my comment but ill just start this discussion to go into more detail.

1. you need to open steam/steamapps/common/Sourcefilmmaker/game/usermod
2. You will see one game.txt file. Open it and scroll done until you see the ''Searchpath''' lines.
3. Add another line called ''Game workshop'' under ''gameinfo_path'' in the EXACT same format as all the ones below it
4. Delete the old ''Game workshop'' file.
5. SAVE THE EDIT (File-> save)
6. Close the document and open SFM
7. Spawn in the hwm_soldier model and click ''Add team fortress 2 item''
8. Click on the item called ''All father''. Note: You know that you did everything right if the beard does NOT glow

Please note that i am in no way experienced with scripts of any kind and just followed the instructions. There may be occasions where this will not work or break sfm.

I hate myself, this has enlightened me to using HWM "Add Team fortress 2 item". I have been adding the standard .mdl files and adding cosmetics as a seperate entity in order to combine them in using Cosmetics. Thank you, and have a pleasant day

Do you know if the edits you make get reset when you reinstall sfm?

Uhh i honestly have no idea due to not being particulary smart in the scripting/programming region (or in general either) as stated above. But i think it would make sense that the edits get reset since you basically delete any existing element of sfm currently on your PC and just install the base version again without any kinds of modifiers. Might be wrong tho

thank you, i was making a comment on how ctf games all have a similar trope where the people who killed the person carrying the intel always camp it in the style of a poster (a soldier and heavy were wearing the all father(purple and yellow)) and this allowed me to paint it, so thank you a bunch

is it 'gameworkshop' or 'game_workshop'

Both of these aren't the right one
There should be a list of different things that look like for example
"Game" "tf movies"
And there you just use
"Game" "workshop"

Thanks, you just made my sfm crash and not being able to launch this ♥♥♥♥ up. "Unable to load manifest file 'scripts/game_sounds_manifest.txt"
And I have to verify integrity files when I needed to do something real quick, Thank you again for wasting my time and breaking my sfm

Hey, sorry if the fix may not work anymore but thank you for notifying me. As you can see it has been 3 years since I've posted the comment/discussion and I haven't really touched sfm too much since so I'm not up to date on *if* this fix still is the right way to do it. Then again, I'm not the creator of this entire thing and simply reworded it in how I thought most people might understand the instructions better. I'll gladly boot up sfm and try it out again but in any case you should ask Patrick Jr. as he will definetly have a better answer than me.

Great, ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ great. now i can't open SFM because usermod/gameinfo.txt is not a valid format apparently. Now i can't open this ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ program. Thanks a lot.
