eg Office chair has a 'chair' tag and I change it to chair,toilet_needs' to give it toilet functionality.
This would allow me to keep the vanillia like ship, while expanding its abilities when the mod is enabled, without having to build the toilet again in the game, or create a copy of the ship only for the mod.
screen where I use a chair at a depth of 0.890 behind a door of 0.6 which hides a character when taking "number two"

On the other hand, it seems like a natural consequence of eating. it is also much more important than social needs, according to the Maslow's hierarchy.
From the point of view of gameplay, it could force these states:
1) the need to take off the diving suit
2) need to "take a minute" which can lead to:
- queue in front of the toilet
- unprepared fight in the toilet with monsters
- why aren't you at the guns
3) in case of failure, the need to wash, e.g. in a ballast tank..., soup or other "washing" item like ethanol spray.
a halfway solution would be the ability to turn on/off some needs, but that would probably require lua for barotrauma and creating a settings menu. Which is out of scope.
In conclusion, i agree.
This idea does need more support before it can be implemented.
I really like your idea, i may add it later if it prove to be popular. In the mean time i'm working on adding more stuff to the current needs with HE author cooperation
