By simply attaching random props to your car with the weld tool, you can make a great DIY armor to cover yourself from enemy fire! Anything from furniture, corpses, and chunks of the terrain works great. You can also use the place tool or whatever it's called, to armor your vehicle at the cost of resources as well, but (at the time) it's kinda buggy, plus, i feel like this is a better alternative anyway.
if you are wondering about loot, yes, loot can spawn on bridges and vehicles with fuel do spawn as well, the loot usually tends to be building materials (scrap metal, driftwood, etc.) but you may find ammo and a couple guns inside a train cargo cart
just dont break your legs from falling!
