Thanks for the feedback, but what maps specifically are causing you problems?
Have you tried disabling all other mods?
Aren't you by chance experiencing the "Mongoose" error - which you can check by looking at your main monitor, where an error message poped-up(if the Alyx window has priority, it might be hidden behind it)?
If all testing goes well, I'll update the main branch with these additions, so let me know if everything is working correctly.
The new particles are either using the more expensive fluid simulation or use Sprites instead of models, so that it'd look less "chunky", though I personally still prefer the original over this.
If about the beta, I recommend to choose only the option that fits you the best, as some of the particles using sprites are expected to be dated, as they're reminiscent of something you'd see in games like L4D2. The fluid particles are certainly the most realistic, but there's always a performance cost, which is why cheaper variants were often chosen instead.
I'm really not a very good particle artist, but the system should support any particles to be used for the blood, even from custom addons, so that's also a possibility.
