BitCards (Continued)
Ideas for "something else to do with" BitCards
Yo Zaljerem! First, thanks for all the mods you've resurrected and made, I use a lot of 'em and I appreciate all your hard work. If it wasn't a ridiculous and likely unfeasible suggestion... ehh what the hell, in case you're feeling particularly maddened by the Cube:

I'd say it'd be cool if you could, say, feed a card into a Card Collection Obelisk or something that tracks your completion... Maybe you could start to accumulate furniture made out of a material the Collection Obelisk rewards you with every time you deposit a card... like Bitcardium blocks or something that you can make display frames you'd then insert cards in to display on walls for decoration and stuff, or put them in Album recreational books, or other fun things like that... of course all these beautiful treasures being valuable targets for Collector raids for the cards they contain.

Heck maybe even make walls and doors of the material, give it like a cute lil texture on the bricks like it's made of cards. Have a card castle. Card embrasures. Maybe that's all the stone block card is for; turning Bitcardium into structures.

Okay so that's pretty normal-ish stuff, right... So here comes the wilder parts.

Get enough of a card deposited, the Obelisk will dispense an "Energized" version that can be worn in a new Cardifact (card + artifact) slot or sumthin that's just for one Energized Card. Only one. Wear an Energized Card, get some absurd ability to do with the object on the card... as long as the Obelisk is built and active, radiating the Power of your Collection. Shiny Energized cards would do more. Maybe they're active abilities or maybe they call in otherworldly animated items to guard or assist their wielder.

Example; Log. Perhaps while Log does roll down stairs alone or in pairs, the Energized Log lets you throw full-weight log projectiles. Or summons an animated log that will beat your enemies to death with its very body until it is destroyed, returning in the dead of night after a few days. Perhaps the Shiny one is more like a living tree companion, doesn't need to eat or sleep. only photosynthesize on occasion, garden, and guard its master with its horrifying, bloodstained bark. When it dies a nearby tree starts the long process of unrooting to stand the card wielder's side, or it just reappears mysteriously in a day or so.

Maybe you get an Energized Charge Rifle card finally and... you get a lil charge rifle on legs that follows you around and shoots stuff. Maybe the Shiny one is kinda like a cat, hunts for fun, brings you... anomalous presents. occasionally is found chewing on a shambler or revenant corpse that wasn't there a moment ago. you never see them kill these things, they just... appear. often in front of your bedroom door.

I'd get weird with it, basically, with cards becoming more "anomalous" in mostly-benign, adorable, or concerningly hilarious ways scaling with their value. Maybe some are capricious and choose their masters... The most expensive cards should have the most glee-filled madness behind them, right? Gotta keep that drive to collect going somehow! But sometimes a humble Log gets the point across.

But mechanically you could ape vanilla or common-mod features in unexpected ways to make them weird and fun to play with. Like cats or predator animals hunting for fun wouldn't be a ridiculous "install this to get extra features on your charge riflecat! such as strange presents" kinda compatibility. I'd imagine you'd just make a cat that has the body or head of a charge rifle. Or a dryad that is a tree. I dunno how it works in Rimworld's guts yet, maybe I should figure it out. It'd be cool to see a lil charge rifle rambling about taking pot-shots at prey animals for lunch. we don't ask how it eats, it's safer for all of us that way.

Heck maybe you get rewards for storing certain numbers of a card in the Obelisk. Artifact-level things for collecting tens of cards, wealth is retained in the Obelisk. More powers, more wealth you have to defend. After all, they're so precious colonists could get upset if card-based objects are stolen. Maybe there's a reason the Collectors want them so bad? I wonder what'd happen if you got enough of them all? Can you ever have enough?

Kinda running with Binding of Isaac style random-ass item powers or like YuGiOh "ancient and powerful cards" style with a spice of Anomaly-flavoured Pokemania themed on the cards. After all, what is a card but a particularly flat cuboid? We know Cubes are trouble! Maybe the foul geometry of the cuboid simply inspires obsession?

Anyway, thanks for reading if you got this far. Hope anything here sparks something for you. If anything here vibes with you please run with it, think of it as thanks for all the mods you've resurrected that I find myself enjoying. Figured I'd just drop my weird ideas here on the off chance you found anything useful or fun-sounding, free to a good home, totally cool if not.

Have a good one, Zalj!
