I got the ecumenical council like, 8-12 times one after another even after i'd set my inquisition policy. the situation tracker kept popping up and wouldnt go away after i felt it shouldve and it made more of them than I had planets so i think there was a problem somewhere. i havent played enough of it yet to see any more, hope this helps!

If you have any ongoing situations that shouldn't be there, open the situation then open the console and type "effect destroy_situation = this". Let me know if there are lingering issues from having multiple councils, and I can help you fix them with console commands

lucky you that I play exalted priesthood A LOT, I really like the idea of unorthodox beliefs and the "do not harm the faithful" only killing like, 2 pops to remove the belief was nice because this happened pretty early on. admittedly the colony went from 3 pops to 1 but hey, so long as theres a pop theres a way. I'll report any problems I run into soon as I find em friend.

Ah, figured it out! The effects were working as expected, but it was displaying the wrong message. So actually, you didn't lose any pops on that planet, you got 40 devastation. I'll put that fix out with the next release

You should have an edict "Invite to Galactic Faith". That will let you choose an empire to invite, that meets the following conditions:
- is Spiritualist
- is not Exalted Priesthood
- is not already following your Galactic Faith
- is not a diplomacy-restricted subject

I played a long game with the civic and didn't really like it. No matter what you do, you're gonna lose leaders with the unorthodoxy thing and if unlucky, be stuck in permanent heretical purging, causing you to lose pops and stability. That's such a huge nerf to exalted priesthood which is in itself a meh civic that I just don't see myself playing with this mechanic ever again.

Thanks for the feedback. I made this before the big leader rework; I should definitely change things now that leaders are more valuable and less plentiful. I'm curious about being permanently stuck in heresy. Do you just mean that heresy spreads quicker than you can purge it? I'd be like to see the save if you still have it

Yeah. That's it. I had 3-4 inquisitions. Every other one ended eventually but the last one just keeps on spawning heretical planets about the same speed I can purge them.

Ok. For one, I'll probably change this to a max once-per-game event. I'll look into rebalancing some numbers (especially, there's a cooldown where a planet cannot have heresy reappear if recently removed).

What sort of empire did you have? eg ethics, authority, wide/tall? What inquisition policy were you using?

Fanatic spiritualist, authoritarian. Used the "focus on leaders" policy.
Empire size was wide but the last inquisition was whan I was super wide. Terraformed and colonized all the planets and created ringworlds in a 200 system empire.
