but in Vanilla you can also create your own and add assets to the theme right?

yes, you can... this mod just give you opportunity to create style "on the fly" during game play - so no need to go back to main menu and asset editor. I would say that UI is also bit better :D but that personal preference. You can also decide to be more restrictive in building selection - vanilla style behaves in the way when they use any building if they can't find suitable one in the style during the building upgrade.
