To eject the core:
Enable force-field from the engineering console to the right hand section of entering the room.
The option to eject core is now available.
Once the core has been ejected, major systems will be inoperable, and the only way to revert this is to do an admin full map clean.
From then *i think* you may self-destruct the ship
