You either activate the button on the cross and then jump into the pit immediately after it opens to get there or construct a noclip device and float over there. I did both and let me tell you the map really doesn't like you going there after you trigger IT.

What Button on the Cross? And Which Pit are you talking about, There's More then One, The only Pit that I know of that "Opens up" just brings you back to the Gym. At this point I'm Convinced that the Ending and the Secret Church are just Trolls Designed to Infuriate and Confuse us.
