First of all: I really don't understand, why this map is rated so high...
I see that you had an idea for this map, you sat down and thought about what you wanted to show the player.

1. Please look at the graphical style of Hammerwatch and The Sun Temple. It's a clear and defined graphic style. Most of the sprites you implemented are in a style that looks more complex a bit like, for example mortal combat 1, which is absolutely okay. I am a private graphic designer for myself and I edit graphics for my pokémon hack. The problem is, that you can't establish two different looking graphic styles in one game (looks like playing minecraft with a 64x texture pack and missing textures). One good example is Dingovania, which implemented new textures and features with a perfectly matching graphic style.

1.2. Make clear what's the quest. In Hammerwatch it's pretty logic what to do and what the options are. There are buttons on the wall and pressure plates that are changing something on the map... when I made my way through Guardian of Ice I accidently missed those door openers (?) and the star thing at the end... they just look like decoration objects...

2. Please let the lava insant-kill the player. on guardian of fire I walked through the lava instead of the fire traps... In Guardian of Fire I walked through the entire lava room to check if I missed something.

3. Do you know what makes Hammerwatch so driving? The huge bubbles of enemies and spawners which can be destroyed in a huge explosion of meteors or an highly aggressive electrical storm. In you map you start on a map with ugly textures and you don't know what to do... you walk a bit forward and there are two enemies shamble towards your character. it's just boring... Half of the time I just ignored any enemies because they were to slow to follow me and made my way through the map...

3.1. The map also feels like "Oh I just walk here and activate this thingy... Now I walk ALL THE WAY BACK (Please use Hammerwatch-typical shortcuts, backtracking feels tiring...) and- OH YES! I will do the exact same thing... over and over and over again (Please play the Hammerwatch campaign, or better The Sun Temple and write down what the different quests are so you get a feeling of what variety means, I know that this might be a tricky and complicated process but it's absolutely going to be worth it.)

4. My last point is the music... just please find someone to compose better music because this was another point making Hammerwatch so intense. I nearly fell asleep over that monotonous soundtrack in the background...

To sum this up a bit:

How you should play Hammerwatch: Both hands on the keyboard and with a heart rate close to a collapse

How I played Hexen: One hand on WASD and the other one resting my head on, nearly asleep and hoping that the end of the map will come soon.
