What if her birthright affects ALL of her clots, not just red ones, as an additional thought
this would also change regular tainted eve's birthright
i can't imagine this being easy to make; might not even be possible with current modding tools (maybe repentagon, i don't really know anything about that tho), but it's just an idea i've had for a long time.
I've been toying with ideas for your suggested rework while playing the character again, and I have some thoughts:
1. Stop clots from taking damage, but also change it so they don't block projectiles or otherwise interact with enemies. This would prevent your clots just getting wiped out on certain bosses or in awkward rooms, and would also prevent Eve from becoming near-invincible with a large enough clump of clots.
2. Instead of degrading over time, clots could degrade after each room clear. This means the player can explore at their own speed and still get a known amount of use out of each clot. Each time they degrade, their damage output is reduced by some amount; when it reduces to 0%, the clot perishes. Additionally, after a certain number of rooms (say, three), a clot loses any special tear effects (both its own and inherited from Eve).
3. Trickier to program, but maybe clots only start degrading when there is no slot in the health bar that they could go into on use of Sumptorium (once a clot has started degrading, it doesn't stop even if the slot in the health bar gets emptied again).
4. I saw the discussion on the Inseparable Clots mod about losing the ability to drag clots through enemies when you recall them. So how about instead, any clots that can't be re-absorbed burst, causing some AoE damage? Maybe also a bit of creep splashed on the ground?
5. I also find that the clots aren't particularly necessary as you get more powerful, so maybe some DPS scaling to keep them relevant later in a run would be good as well.
Anyway, even if you aren't working on this anymore, the Inseparable Clots mod is enough to make this character enjoyable for me now, so thanks again!
You could just make Sumptorium work like how it does for every character that isn't Tainted Eve, since you create a clot simply by using Sumptorium, but I guess that would cause T. Eve to lose some uniqueness, which some people wouldn't like and I can understand that. I can't think of a more creative way to change it, but I'd be happy with any way it's changed as long as it is no longer tied to firing.
