Answer:

Question:
Why did you choose to include, exclude, or choose one map over another?
  • Answer:
    I followed a generalized priority order... functionality, size & content, compatability, and aesthetics.
  • Functionality: Is it fully functional, or are there defects in the original map?
  • Size & Content: Is it a single house in a cell, or 8 cells full of city? A new interesting place or a fully stocked base?
  • Compatbility: Does it conflict with any of the other mods being used which are of a higher overall "coolness" rating?
  • Aesthetics: Is it the coolest of the options in that location?

Question:
How do I add a map to this? How do I remove a map from this?
Answer:
This is not quick answer, so I won't cover it here. It depends on the map(s). Will do a write up at some point.

Question:
Should I enable all of the map mods in the required collection?
Answer:
No, none. They only need to exist in your workshop subscriptions.

Question:
What happens when APEXMAKER is updated?
Answer:
(need some sub questions.... need to regenerate mod, no. break save game, no. break apex map mod, no.)


SECTION 2 - Apex Map Mod Questions

Question:
Do I have to restart my map?
Answer:
If and ONLY if you want to. To update you would need to remove the old Apex Map Mod, generate a new one using the latest script, and then put that into place - if you do this, you have to start a new game.

Question:
Do I have to disable all other map mods?
Answer:
No, with this caveat: Use of any other maps may "break" parts of the map if it overwrites used cells. I highly recommend testing with nothing other than Apex Map Mod right after you build it, then add addition mods from there. Included in APEXMAKER is a spreadsheet with analysis of over 200 maps, which cells they use, and other information. I'd check that out before trying to add any more into the mix.

Question:
What happens when one of the map mods used in APEXMAKER updates?
Answer:
Nothing, Apex Map Mod is no longer reliant on any mods from the workshop, it is a new complete mod unto itself. You only update when you want to.

Thank you! I assumed the folder names is what needs to be added but wanted to be 100% sure. The more I dig into your script and how it packs it all together, the more I realize how amazing this all is. Would love to donate to your hard work on this script :)

While I could certainly use the money, especially the way the world economy is going, I feel like at least half the world is worse off than I am. There are many efforts I wish I could support while I'm distracting myself from the world's real problems with games, and working on fun things, and generally not having it all that bad. The fact that people are having fun with something I made is really all the reward I need.

If you really want to give, I'd appreciate if you just pick a charity you support which helps people in some meaningful way and donate what you can. Hunger, diseases, human rights, etc. I've found GlobalGiving[www.globalgiving.org]
helpful in finding organizations when I've got some spare loot.

Hope I didn't bring anyone down, not my intention!

Seems like new project zomboid build will update map, what's going to happen to this mod when the new build releases?

It will live on, because I like having lots of extra maps on my map. :steamhappy:

My rough plan at this point is....
- Big empty vanilla areas in the b42 will still get overwritten with selected maps.
- Cool new areas on vanilla map will be left alone.
- Maps which no longer fit will be removed until authors (or someone) relocates them.
- As new maps are made which work with the new b42 are released, they'll be added.

How would the script handle maps with multiple mods? just use or create two entries with the same ID and Folder?

Yes, I used multiple entries for map mods with multiple maps. You can look at how I handled Silverton/Rosebery/New Denver (Slocan Lake) for an example.

If you mean maps with non-map functionality you can look at how I handled Save Our Station.

Yo the build 42 map additions seems to be added into the game or smth?

I can use mods on this collection of maps with no problem? or it can exist a incompatibility with maps?
