Atariar started to crash

Currently in chapter 1, this started to happen after I talked to Lares - suddenly, frequent crashes.

What could be the cause and how can it be fixed?

P.S. This can be triggered when asking Lares to teach. There are some other random triggers but I can't figure out what they are

i have the same problem randomly while saving game...

great prophet of Cheesenos, I have the same issue, its just that for me it happens as I go past Harad toward the port. I am guessing something that gets spawned into existence in the harbor causes teh crash

I narrowed it down to latest Union. With it on it always crashes in the harbor of Khorinis.
