I tried to press Q on mine and it just wont work any suggestions?

If you still need help, try opening another mode, if you are playing on hard difficulty, switch to greed mode, it helped me. But be aware, if you suddenly want to change the mode, you may lose your win streek, as you will have to exit greed mode to save the character, in general, in simple words, if you want to change the character, do it in greed mode :)
