I just find it overwhelming on like the very first defense I'm getting hit with 6 or 7 superior enemy tanks and tons of infantry while I'm using like 2 weaker tanks and 3 or 4 infantry squads lol
May I ask what nation you are playing with. It may be a balancing issue or a difficulty issue.
I will try a quick conquest game later as the USSR against the US and see if the result is still the same.
Edit: I tested out playing as the USSR vs the US and its about the same. On the very first defense I was attacked with 12 tanks and tons of infantry and APCs I was playing on easy. It was easier to deal with than playing as the US side because the first tank the USSR gets, the T-54, is a lot better than the USA's starting tank which is the M41 who can't even frontally pen the T-54 and it was on a large map. It gets really bad when you play on a small map.
