Alternative fix, though I am new to the terraria modding scene and don't know its potential pit falls, is to make a modded silt alternative that looks and acts the same but can't be abused. This being because it seems the purpose of the particular vendor in question is for building more so than getting stronger.

Silt Dupe has been removed with the recent changes. You loose about half your money now due to 10x the price on silt. Time to get back to grinding bossfights for money
