Many missions do no appear in the PDA and must be discovered through exploration.

Artifact Research (Colonists)
Arriving at the Artifact Research facility, you find the lead researcher who informs you that you are not supposed to be there unless you have a Scientific Keycard. Like other keycards (Standard, Security, Military, Exploration), you can sometimes find this in loot containers in a PoI but more likely it is dropped by a Xirax Commander although these might be Commanders in difficult PoI like the Officer Quarters in the Sector Command or the bridge of a Tovera - even the Infected Commander of an Abandoned Bunker. With the keycard in hand, you return to the lead researcher who gives you some fascinating background on the research center itself plus their primary project to build a Quantum Core. He then invites you to help them with the project by obtaining 5 sets of resources. This can be a randomized (with replacement) selection that includes
  • 30 radiation shield, 40 heat exchangers, 50 large optronic bridges
  • Hacked Science Anomalous Data and Hacked Science Raw Data
  • 1000 Platinum Plate
  • 12 robotics and 70 superconductors
  • 5 viral samples (bio containers in Abandoned Assembly Yard, Abandoned Factory or Abandoned Depot)
. After delivering the requested items, the researcher then gives you the opportunity to build either a large or small Quantum Core. For the large core, you will need to deliver 4 large matrices and 24 quantum processors. These processors can be found in the previously noted bio containers but can reliably be found in an ammunition container in Tovera ships. This will allow the lead researcher to build you 1 and exactly 1 Quantum Core. You won't be able to build - as yet - more than 1 in this mission.
