Enable only for XCOM Soldiers
If you would like to have the ability only for XCOM soldiers, change the mode in configuration to whitelist and add:
Soldier - regular soldiers
ReaperSoldier - Reapers
SkirmisherSoldier - Skirmishers
TemplarSoldier - Templars
SparkSoldier - Sparks
AdvPsiWitchM2 - Commander's Avatar

Any other units (named TLP characters etc.) can be found in the games DefaultGameData_CharacterStats.ini, search for X2CharacterTemplate.

Is there an idiots guide on how to add these names to the mod's whitelist? Asking for a friend.

If you have the Alternate Mod Launcher (you should have) it has a tab for editing mod config files. If you do not then you can manually go to XComs workshop folder and edit mod configs there. "..\steamapps\workshop\content\268500\2548985376\Config"
