For the carbon I recommend just using the item menu to cheat yourself in some carbon to get started OR find a carbon deposit to mine.
I am no longer supporting vanilla content or missions in the scenario. I recommend looking at Reforged Eden instead as that is where I am now focusing my efforts.
I tried Reforged Eden, but was turned off by having my first base on Akua (and myself) shot to pieces by a completely overpowered squad of Zirax soldiers and drones (latter of which seemed impervious to my sniper gun?) within just a few minutes of having plunked down my first few cement blocks.
What I took from that is that you're not really supposed to build bases early in RE - but that's exactly what I like doing, so I figured RE just isn't for me.
So I wanted to have the "vanilla but with much more stuff" experience instead.
Sad to hear that won't be happening, but I get you should focus your work on what you enjoy most.
