You guys DO realize that TFC isn't the first Team Fortress ever, right?
Team Fortress wasn't a game at first, it was a mod, (by the Team Fortress Team which also helped valve remake it into their GoldSRC engine which soon became TFC.)for a game called Quake. It was the biggest mod contributed to back then.
In my oppinion, the mod is even better than "TFC". But hey, thats my oppinion. Check it out yourself, i found a great video that explains everything, the history, the development, and even how to set it up and start playing yourself:

This is not my video, it's this one other guy's. So be sure if you like it, to like it and maybe even subscribe.
One last thing, the scout wasn't the only one who had a nailgun, almost all of the classes did.
So that was your history lesson today, hope you learned something. I just can't believe Valve just "took" their idea and just blew the original dev's in the dust.
-Chairs :o
LOL yeah... The truth is, I don't think Gabe Newell handles that department. He's just the President or whatever of Valve. Most people think he's in charge of every single little thing...when in reality, they just want someone to blame because they aren't getting their own way. Not trying to be mean or anything but...it's true.
