In my personnal opinion, fnaf isn't dead, theres still fnaf communities(such as reddit) that are still healthly and alive, as for them being on gmod, uh, well, er, uh, i don't know how to say it without sounding like a douchebag.

i think it was alright on garry's mod way back in the day but then people started make really bad fanf saves and posting them on the workshop and now nobody really likes fanf saves on this workshop anymore. (unless it's well made at least) i almost forgot about the anti fanf save haters. they don't like people who dislike fanf saves.
