Can’t Mate Dinos
I am new and trying to mate a basic comet ptera with a basic starfire ptera(both cosmic). Every time I enable mating, they start to mate for a few seconds and then both of their mating options reset to disabled and they stop. I saw in videos that you could breed the same variants together, but am I doing something wrong?

first of that are not the same variants, they are same group

secondly on default .ini settings you can only mate same variant (meteor + meteor)

you can see your current breeding mode in the ingame guide -> boss tab

1 means same variant but any tier

What are there more breeding modes and what do they do

1 same group any tier, bosses unchanged, default

2 same variant same tier, bosses more easy

3 any variant any tier, bosses are stronger

7th variants ignore this modes beside the tier requirement

When you say boss tab, I really can't find it, plus when I did change it to 3 it just kept not working and yes they are the same group and they are the same tier just different variant

When you say boss tab, I really can't find it, plus when I did change it to 3 it just kept not working and yes they are the same group and they are the same tier just different variant
If one fo your dinos is one of the following conditions, than breeding will fail:
Is a gg variant
Is a clone
Is a 7th variant (lethal is 7th and psychosis is normal), 7th, no matter the breeding mode, can only mate with the same variant

Also rarely: if another Dino of the same species is near it can trigger to fail if it's one of the upper conditions

As it depends on multiple factors, the best way to search for the right file is useing a Google to find a tutorial about ark .inis
