Yeah, having the exact same problem. Can't hold on to it, seems random when or how it gets dropped, and even when I *do* have hold of it I can't seem to get that last [expletive deleted] throw or whatever I'm meant to do to get it into the target.

Edit: Got it eventually, but I still feel like I got it through luck rather than skill or working out the puzzle.
